personality:
Chou is the most hot-headed member of the Juppon Gatana. He's tough-talking, rough around the edges, and has an overall bad attitude. Although his personality could be compared to that of Sanosuke's, Chou is much more malicious and bloodthirsty. He also isn't afraid of resorting to methods such as bullying and threatening the lives of innocent people in order to get what he wants. Chou seems to have no loyalties to anyone; his only apparent passion is for very fine swords which has earned him the nickname, "Chou the Sword Hunter" as he likes to collect (and then use) the finest swords made by well-known swordsmiths. Like many RK villains Chou may brag about his abilities, but ultimately his bark proves far worse than his bite.
past:
It is not clear why Chou chose to join Juppon Gatana, as he clearly does not care that much about Shishio's ideals. However, there is evidence to suggest that Chou has at the least developed a certain level of respect for the other members of the Juppon Gatana while working with them.
